When you visit Andersons of Inverurie, our goal is to elevate your shopping experience so you're not just walking into a store, but stepping into a space of inspiration, creativity, and outstanding furniture design to help you enhance your home interiors.

Following the successful refurbishment of our classic furniture department last year, we felt it was time for our Middle & Contemporary furniture sections to undergo a transformation of its own. In this blog post, we share a sneak peek of our newly refurbished space and all the ideas that have gone into this exciting project, which promises to deliver a superior shopping experience to every customer who visits us…

How did we gather inspiration for this refurbishment?

The process began several months ago, as we started to think of ways to redesign and freshen up the floors as a starting point. We took inspiration from the previous refurbishment we completed last year in our classic furniture department, as well as various trade shows and showrooms we had been to since then.

Another key source of inspiration was the new Little Greene paint colour palettes we’ve used in our recent show home and interior design projects, as we wanted to introduce a softer, more homely colour palette into the store so our shoppers could easily visualise our furniture in a home setting.

Using Little Greene and Sandersons paints also allows us to showcase the range of colours we have available from these brands in our interior design department but on a larger scale, so customers can see how these colours could transform their space at home too.

What do we love most about the new space?

This section of our store is now modernised and showcases our outstanding furniture ranges perfectly. It certainly provides our customers with new ideas and inspiration on what can be achieved with their home interiors, hopefully giving them the vision they need to transform their home into a space they truly love, with the help of our amazing team.

Our team loves the Amtico herringbone flooring in the main furniture section, as it provides a seamless contrast between this zone and the main walkway which is laid in a different direction. It’s a lovely style not just for the store, but also for any open plan area in a home.

The front porch is another favourite among our staff and customers, as it gives any visiting customers a strong first impression as they step into the store. By updating two paint colours and woodwork, this key space has been completely transformed, showing the power and effectiveness of changing the colour palette to create a new and refreshed atmosphere in any space.

Why was flooring such an important part of this project?

When it came to refurbishing our store, it was important to not only create a beautiful space, but to also showcase the skills of our departments and show customers what we can deliver, supply and fit in their home.

We decided to feature wood LVT flooring from our premium suppliers Amtico and Karndean, and layed it in several different patterns and layouts to showcase the variety of options there are when it comes to flooring.

Our own team of in-house fitters prepared and laid all the floors that were selected by our interior design team, ensuring the choice of flooring would work in harmony with the paint colours and finishings to create a cohesive, quality environment that flows easily as customers shop around the store.

What were the considerations for the new front porch?

This space is the first thing our customers see as they walk through the door, so it was important for us to create a warm and inviting atmosphere that would have a positive impact as soon as our customers step into the store.

We decided to feature Little Greene Paint Company’s sage green, and combined this colour with Portland stone on the wood panelled ceiling to create a calming environment, while freshening up the original wood finish to a more modern look and feel.

We retained the original slate tile flooring in this area as it brings a different texture and is a functional choice for keeping the area looking fresh throughout busy days.

What were some of the finishing touches that were added to bring the space to life?

To complete the new space within the store, we added rugs to most of the furniture displays to inspire our customers and showcase different looks and styles of finishes that could be added to their home.

Can customers enquire about the products used in this refurbishment?

Yes! Our interior design and flooring departments are happy to answer any questions on wall covering and flooring that have been used if visiting customers want to replicate the look in their own home. We will also be adding labels to the walls of each display so customers can easily see which colours and finishes we used.

The overall goal of this exciting refurbishment was to not only refresh our store, but also to showcase a variety of furniture and interior styles to inspire our valued customers to create a home they love and show them what’s possible. With everything available under one roof - from furniture and flooring, to home accessories and interior finishes - as well as an expert team to guide you, our store is now a new and improved hub to bring dream home interiors to life!
