With outdoor visits now considered the new norm, and garden entertaining continuing to be the go to party plans for 2021, we are delighted to have launched our brand new range of garden furniture and accessories here at Andersons.

From small bistro sets to large formal dining tables, corner groups, and contemporary accessories that add the finishing touches, our beautiful new garden range has something for everyone.

To give you some inspiration, we caught up with our homewares expert Sally Smalley on the latest garden trends, some of her favourite outdoor accessories, as well as some hints and tips on how to emulate an indoor living space outside...

Andersons Large Rattan Corner Sofa

Choose your furniture

“Whether you’re looking to create a sociable outdoor dining space for entertaining friends and family or a safe haven for you to relax in, we have a wide range of options for you to choose from.

“When selecting your furniture, consider how you want to use your outdoor seating area. For al fresco dinner parties, the
8 seater dining set and oval table, or the 4 seater dining set, are both great choices for a formal setup where you can enjoy a meal in the garden. Alternatively, the corner sofa with 2 stools and adjustable table are better suited if you’re looking to create a more casual atmosphere but still have the ability to entertain guests.

“We also have smaller sets that would be ideal for couples looking to create a cosy and intimate setting outdoors. The high back bistro set offers a cosy seating area for spending time together in the garden, while the lounge set is ideal for lying back and relaxing on sunny days.”

Accessorise your outdoor walls

“Creating an outdoor living space has never been easier, with a wide range of accessories designed to withstand the elements and offer an inviting setup outside.

“One way to achieve this is by using the walls around your outdoor space in a similar way that you would accessorise indoors. For example, adding a mirror creates the impression of a larger, brighter garden, and can give even the smallest of nooks a boost of light and the illusion of more space.

“Another great addition to an outdoor wall is a large clock, as it offers a statement feature that helps to mimic the welcoming, homely atmosphere of an indoor living space. One of my favourites currently available in store is the black skeleton outdoor wall clock, as it offers a timeless element and will patina over time to look even more authentic.”

Add stylish soft furnishings

“Introducing soft furnishings, such as cushions and rugs, is a great way to add your own personal touch to your garden. At Andersons, we now have a wide variety of rugs and cushions available which are designed specifically for withstanding the British summer. Made from recycled plastic bottles, these lovely accessories are easily cleaned and quick to dry, so you can decorate your outdoor seating area without having to compromise on style.

“My favourites are the Hasley outdoor cushions and the Patio Diamond rug. Both come in a range of colours so you can mix and match to suit your style, and the geometric pattern is great for creating a contemporary look.”

Let there be light!

“Another way you can bring some warmth to our outside seating is by adding lanterns and lighting to your garden. The glow of candles and lights instantly creates an inviting atmosphere you can relax in, which would be perfect for entertaining guests as the sun goes down.

“Day or night, lanterns offer a great statement piece to adorn your outdoor seating arrangement with, and gives you the opportunity to express your own style. If you like a more rustic and relaxed finish, choose wicker or bamboo accessories - such as the Akari lantern. Or if you prefer a look that is more luxurious, our metal and concrete lanterns would be perfect to create a chic and elegant outdoor space that complements your own taste.”

Finish with stylish planters and pots

“The best way to complete your outdoor seating arrangement is combining the indoor elements with outdoor finishes. Once you have your furniture and home touches chosen, add stylish planters to surround your setup with fresh greenery.

“Whether you prefer to opt for a sleek and modern planter, or something with a more quirky edge to it, we have plenty of options that will help you enhance your beautiful blooms. I love the  Easter Island head planters - they’re definitely a talking point and they look great when filled with spiky grasses. Alternatively, we have contemporary planters with clean lines and wooden legs that would look lovely with colourful flowers.”
